There is no doubt in my mind that Animal Collective are one of the most important bands of the last decade. They make music that is challenging, exciting and always evolving. "Sung Tongs", "Feels", "Strawberry Jam" and Merriweather Post Pavilion" are all seminal albums. This year they returned with "Centipede Hz", an album that I believe needs a thousand listens to delve into its mysteries. It's not as immediate as previous records, but I believe in time it will stand up as another important album to add to their collection of works. I was therefore very excited to see that the Baltimore four were going to part of Big Day Out 2013. Incidentally I think it's easily the best lineup this festival has had in years. Now we have today two sideshows to announce. Happy days!
