No doubt Gus Van Sant is a significant film maker. His films though can swing from the hugely commercial to the massively experimental. His new film looks like it sits somewhere in between. It has a small cast (including Australian Mia Wasikowska) and was shot in Van Sant's hometown of Portland. However it was produced by the top Hollywood team of Ron Howard and Brian Glazer. Restless does look intriguing though.
