Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory @ Enmore Theatre

It was an absolute delight to welcome the great Sharon Van Etten to Sydney again last night. Her show at the Enmore Theatre was a night of joy and happiness. I believe this was the fourth time that I have seen her live and it's always a total pleasure. Last night was a little different though as Sharon rebranded her act as Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory this year. They released an album under this name earlier this year, a full band effort. I do like the album but I think it lacks a little from the Van Etten solo records. Last night they frontloaded the show with tracks from that album. They did sound good live, especially 'Afterlife', but they are very synth heavy and not as magnetic. So the show went from good to great when the older songs were played. Such as 'Serpents', probably my favourite song of the night. Of course fan favourites such as 'Seventeen' and 'Every Time the Sun Comes Up' deservedly went down a treat. By the end we were all in Sharon's hands. Not only is she a great singer, but seems such a warm and gracious person. She radiates inner beauty. A short encore featuring the magnificent 'Tarifa' topped off a wonderful night of music.
